mommy where do babies come from?

In Spain, newborn babies are brought from Paris by a stork. Why Paris? I guess for all the obvious reasons... So that´s my story and I´ m sticking to it. What´s the story where you are from?
Happy weekend!

In Poland we say that babies are braught by storks too but some say you find babies on the cabbage fields. Please, don't ask me why... ;)

In London I had a friend who, when asked by his little boy: "Daddy, where do people come from", answered: "From gingerbread daugh". Good way to avoid the real ansewr, I guess...

Have a joyful weekend,
Kasia

Gooseberry bushes!! But in Spain, it begs the question, should all Spaniards actually be french??

I remember reading a joke once about a little girl who was writing a school report about babies and she asked her mum where babies came from and her mum said that she had found her under a gooseberry bush, and so she went and asked her grandmother where babies came from and she told her that the stork had brought her mother too her.....the girl shrugged and went off to write her report......in which she said "as far as I can tell there hasn't been a natural birth in my family for over 2 generations......"

When I was a child, old people spole about stroks, but not about the country it was coming from... They spoke about roses for girls and cabbage for boys... But not my parents ;) I knew evething I wanted to know... not very magic ! but, a little more simple... Beso and have a nice week-end !

the old fashion answer is the stork, but paris - i guess that would just seem imperialistic or something. today i think most parents give the real answer. my son was told by his father that every boy and man has babyseeds in their - huh - have no idea what that part is called. you know what i mean!

I'd be sticking to it to! I was surprised that neither of my kids (8 and 4 years) asked where their baby brother came from. I was just relived and avoided the subject at all costs! We have lots of storks near our house, so maybe I'll remember your story if it comes up!

I discovered your blog a day ago and it has transported me back to the days of my youth when I was the luckiest girl in the world being able to visit my Spaniard cousins for the summer. Born and raised in the USA it was such a treat living there for a few months and how I yearn to go back. I haven't visited in 33 years and reading your blog has reminded me why I love Spain. I look forward to the time when I can introduce my children to their extended family and heritage. Until then I will enjoy my mother's country through your eyes.

My Ex-husband told our oldest daughter that she was a K-mart blue light special and told our second child that she was found in a cabbage patch. She still brings up the story of the cabbage patch whenever she wants to deny she is related to any of us.

Mayby you can copie this and read it!

It's a long story!
some parts of the story:
Storks are commonly believed to bring good fortune. In Germany, they
were known as "Adebar" which means "luck-bringer." In the Netherlands,
a stork nesting on one's roof is welcomed as a good omen"

"Storks were sacred to Venus in Roman mythology. If a stork builds a
nest on your roof, you have received a blessing and a promise of never
ending love from Venus. Aristotle made killing a stork a crime, and
Romans passed a stork law, saying that children must care for their
elderly parents."

Have a nice sunday!

Okay the cauliflower thing is hysterical. On the same topic, forever ago I was talking with my friend Mister E and I joked that "Every time a condom breaks.. a stork get's its wings." and now it's a saying of ours.

Hi There,

I'm Mexican but I live in USA. My parents told me when I was a child that babies come from Paris. I just told my boyfriend that, who is French, and he said that he has never heard that. I guess it is a Spanish thing brought to my country.
I tried to google it, and your comment was the first thing I found.

I knew a girl who was blue. So she painted her world pink. xoxo
