corner view "weekend evenings"

Friday 7:45; Cinema with B. We saw The Proposal. It´s amazing how well Sandra Bullock speaks in Spanish...

Saturday 7:45; Pinchos (tapas) with friends. "Having pinchos" is based entirely on the honor system. You order a beer and take as many as you want, and when you finish you tell the bartender how many you´ve had, and he charges you. Do you think this would work in the States?...

Sunday 7:45; Cheerymania (cherry ice cream with dark chocolate chunks) with Jorge. It´s to die for... (Have you noticed that I´m wearing a SWEATER!...)

Can´t wait to see how you spent your weekend. See many more creative Corner Views here:

Next week´s theme is "best kept secret". It will also be the last one of the summer. I´ll be away in August with no internet access. (Personally, I think my family is staging a little intervention...) Corner View will start again in September. Until then, start thinking up ideas of things you´d like to see! Thanks everyone!

¡Dos Besos!

There are certain shows and movies that I simply cannot watch in German... especially when you know how the actor sounds in real life.

It seems that Germans are also very trustworthy, but I am assuming that your question was, of course, rhetorical. I love the idea that you have to pay for a shopping cart here, only to get your money back upon return, but I could imagine in the States... one would wander through the store saying... "I know I left my cart here"

Just can't beat ice cream in the summer... you can find Italian ice cream shops everywhere here in the summer.

What, you're leaving for a month! boo hoo you. I love that you sneaked that picture in the theatre!! LOL!! and do you mean "our B" of Cuttings? I'm confused.
I almost hate to post mine as it was no where near as exciting as your weekend...pouty lip... Ali.

in Switzerland when you take a newspaper for free service, you can leave without pay if you want because nobody is there to monitor you ... except of course, you put the swiss money in the box, an issue of honesty !
But how do you watch your movie in cinema? feet in the air? ;)

Your food shots always look like they are out of a food magazine and they always make me hungry. There may be some places here in the states where that honor system for tapas would work, but I don't think it would work in a college town like we live in. After living for awhile on ramen and take-out pizza, I think it warps your morals when real food is involved.

Love these. You are so good at this. And I want that ice cream. YUM!!!!!

You have great style Miss Jane. I loved your weekend shots. And let's be honest.. if you drank a lot of beers would you remember how many there were?? I laughed so hard during the Proposal!

KathyA said...

No, it would NEVER work in the States! People would just assume it's an all you can eat buffet!!!! that comes with the price of the beer.

1) I loved that movie :)
2) no, it wouldn't work here - not much self control in the food area
3) is it cold there?

p.s. my vacation coincides with yours - what a relief - I didn't want to miss out :)

You have a beautiful life Jane.

That ice-cream looks good.

Food and cinema... This is why corner view was so difficult this week for me, I got distracted by food, cinema and the same! Though when the time comes (soon) I will do my best to post something close to the theme ;)

Happy holiday away from the computer, and looking forward to your return! Besos ...

I walked by our local theater this weekend and noticed "The Proposal" was playing. Would love to see it, but have a feeling I'll be going to "Ice Age" instead. :) I love the photo of you and the ice cream cone.. such a sweet simple pleasure. Looks like you had a lovely weekend!

sounds divine. love the photos.

Oh Jane - good luck with the intervention... hehe. The shots are great and NO WAY in the states. I think too many beers is a certain sign that the numbers would be off. Cheers! Jodi

What fun to see how you spend weekend nights in Spain!

Oops, I almost forgot about CV for this week, until I saw your lovely post, that is. Around here, the honor system is frequently used for things like holiday wreaths farm fresh eggs and veggies and sometimes admission to an event or park.

I'm loving your top in the ice cream shot. It looks like you had a perfect weekend. Wonderful!

what a lovely line of summer weekend evenings!

the beer thing would never work in denmark, cause people would be too drunk to remember in the end. and here in half would "forget" :)

have a lovely day

Seems great weekend.
One more and holidays.

Mmh! Yummy weekend!
I miss going for pinchos. I'm myself always amazed with that system (it's a Basque Country thing), but it must work if they are still doing it...
I always look forward to your corner views, they never disappoint!

is watching sandra with a voiceover an improvement?

tapas honor system. well, i'm pretty sure that in most places this wouldn't work in america, land of the all-you-can-eat. it depends, though. when i lived in the east village, there was a coffee place that functioned like that. not sure whether they made any money or not. they did make a lot of loyal friends and customers.

the ice cream...oh yes! now we're talking. delicious.

i'm still reeling from that beach shot in your previous post, though. you're amazing all around.

natsumi said...

Oh, I love tapas! There is my favorite tapas bar/restaurant in NY! They serve great wines too!

The ice cream looks delicious too! mmm.. I am hungry now... oxox

I love the photo of your feet up in the theater, and of the ice cream cone. The posts for this series have a cinema feeling to me. Did you ever make movies? Maybe you have, you have such a good eye.
Best! I'm late today to post...!

aha, now I've found your blog (through a lovely colleague) you're off to internet-less land? ;)

I've really enjoyed what I've (briefly) seen, so I'd like to stick around (even if I have to wait 'till "la vuelta al cole")
how does one participate, btw?

cheers,

Jane looks like a grrrrreat weekend. I love tapas too!

latisha said...

love that first pic. they had honor beer in prauge too when we were there. not sure this would work in the US, though some restaurants do have 'honor' wine. they just leave it at the table and you tell em...

Love your corner view this week! My first movie in a theater in Spain was SpiderMan. It cracked us up listening to Speedermon. The theater was packed with kids and they all went nuts during the love scenes. It was really fun! I also wondered what the Spanish thought when they showed the newspaper in English without a translation.

tapas....sounds wonderful to me..and i like the light in spain - in your photos - in the evening between afternoon and night*kiss

your snapshots of life in spain are definitely helping me through my last days in the States. the pictures are SO inspiring and they make me SO excited to be moving there! AHH I can't wait!

for some reason every actor and actress speak Spanish perfectly. It's in their genes, I guess... And funny, how I think it's so natural to wear sweaters in summertime too... ;)
(By the way, I kinda dislike Ryan Reynolds... Me da grima, and that keeps me from watching that movie...)

not only does sandy b. speak spanish, but she has a place on tybee! i'll send you the link! (it's only a few grand a night, in case you're interested!)
