spanish summer

My summer days consisted of waking early and taking a long walk on the beach. Followed by un café con leche and una tostada at a terraza overlooking the ocean. There I´d buy bread and the newspaper. Most days we would then go to the farmer´s market and buy food for lunch. (Any given day we were between 10 and 15 people.) We must have bought 5 kilos of tomatoes a day. Mostly to put in a salad or to make gazpacho. After preparing what we had bought we would then head down to the beach. We would stay until about 3:00 and then return home to finish cooking. Lunch usually lasted until 5:00. In the afternoons we would go hiking in the mountain, walk along the beach, or pop over to France. (I love saying that- don´t I sound so international?) In the evenings we would take the kids for ice cream (the best rum raisin) or have dinner with friends. Not a bad way to spend your days...

Now I´ll tell you about my days when I´m not on vacation.... juuust kidding....

It is a great plan for holidays. Love those morning walks on desert beach and then having breakfast looking at the ocean. Next year have you a little place for me???

I haven't been on hols this year at all and starting to feel it but this summer's been great (weather-wise) and plan is going later in the year when everyone else is working hard and the weather starts being pants, ha!

Beautiful photos, as usual :-)

I remember visiting France and Greece and enjoying looooong lunches, but I'm trying to get my head around lunch 3-5 and then "afternoon" walks!

Sounds like a wonderful break.

Hi Jane! I'm a friend of Nicola's (whichname) and also spent the summer gallivanting about Europe-- it was wonderful! If you have room for one more corner viewer, I'd love to participate as well :)

That's so a Spanish summer.
I love to lunch until 5:00 and make salads (I make the best ones you could ever taste) even though I never made a gazpacho (I buy it made)

Love wandering on the beach and tostaditas con tomate y jamón (y aceite, of course xD)
And I love you being such a spaniard xD

Millones de besos

Now that I'm back I have to catch up on your posts. I'm sure I'll get a smile, if not a big laugh...
On another note, I'm a little dissapointed not to have run into you in my endless walks around Zarauz. I've been looking for women with pentax all summer, you know... ;)

1. Can I come live with you?
2. I love gazpacho. When we were in Barcelona, I ate it in every restaurant we visited!!! I, too, make it frequently, but not Catalan-style.
3. I would love to be able to 'pop over' to France! Mille baci, Kathy
