OK, this might be a stretch, but this is the first thing I thought of when I read Cate´s idea.... Pinchos or Banderillas are bite sizes of food (miniature ;)) usually held together by a toothpick. "Pincho" comes from "pinchar" which means to stab (ie with a toothpick) and Banderillas are long barbed sticks (like a toothpick) that bullfighters use to stab the bulls (sorry for the grim reference). Pinchos or Banderillas are usually served in the bars around 11:00 am to be eaten with an apéritif, and again around 6:00 pm to be eaten with a glass of wine or beer after work. Pinchos have become very sophisticated over the years, but I still favor the more traditional ones. A few of my favorites are; a pincho of hard boiled egg, mayonnaise, and a chunk of tuna, "gildas" which are pickled gindillas with tinned anchovies and olives, tortila de patata, and "ensaladilla" which is potato salad served on a small piece of bread...
By the way, Tapas are served in the south of Spain and are usually given for free with your drinks.
Happy Corner View!
P.S. Thanks again for all your sweet comments and your participation! Corner View is so much fun because of you!

Those little pinchos sound wonderful. I love the idea of havng a little lunch aperitif, standing at a bar and nibbling on a some local delights. Have a good day.
aha. pinchos are definitely a world in themselves, and a good "miniature meal" indeed. so... no stretch there. perfect basque corner view: FOOD! :)

It is not a stretch at all, it is perfect and the picture is awesome and I would like some Pichos. Banderias sounds yummy too but more glamorous:)

Ha ha ! The only way banderias are good !!! May I have one these delicious pinchos ?
Your interpretation of the theme was much more imaginative than mine! Now I'm wonderering what I can do with our ugly front door. :)
Sounds delicious! This CV was one of my favorites so far and the easiest one, I love toys and little things;)
mmm getting hungry!
Perfect my love.
I adore to go "de poteo y pintxos".
It would be nice if tapas were for free, but they aren't. I'm living in La Linea at the border with Gibraltar and it's full of tapas-bars here. Tapas are delicious, healthy and not very expensive (I put 10 kilos on me in 2 years because of them - thanks God they are not for free, lol).
Anyway, I love your pictures.
Dana
They sound and look DEEEEELICIOUS
Yeah, here they are served for free as well. Delicious miniature....those Pinchos?! Bring it on.!
hmmm, these would be good with coffee:)
cheers!
Oh, yum, I could eat them all! Spain should be paying you - handsomely!!! After all, who doesn't want to go to Spain after reading your blog? Great job, as always!
Great idea and great photo Jane, and mind you, it's not one of the famous pintxo bars in Donosti!!!
Una cosita sólo, se escribe banderillas.Un abrazo

Yummy!!! Thanks for your tips and finger food. Have a lovely day!
it's almost more guiltless to eat lots of miniature food when it is that cute. :)
I love "petit fours" too! Yummy photos!
Am thinking its been too long since last we were in Spain, the descriptions of these has my taste buds yearning to go back! One of our favorite restaurant in Brighton was called Pinxtos, perhaps the Basque spelling of pinchos?
this was a hard theme for me. ut i like your interpretation of it!
I love little snack type foods! They make every occasion seem like a party.
minifood! Yum!
I love the miniature food! Tapas and antipasti are some of my favourite things - usually because once I've eaten them I can't manage anything else!!

I love where you went here. Delish.
What a great idea to think of miniature food. I had to really think to come up with something, too. I look forward to checking out the links here and seeing what others came up with. Thanks for being our faithful hostess, Jane!

OK this isn't fair! It is not even 9am and I'm hungry!! Did you say free? Sounds like a trip to Spain is indeed worth the visit. Thanks my friend. xo

All I can say is, I want some pinchos!

So much thought and preparation in little bite sizes of food. The culinary tradition there is quite something, every post there's some delicious food! Do you cook much?
LOVE the foodculture in southern countries!
We also love Spain because of these delicious tapas, I wish I can have some of them right now!
that sounds yummy at any time of the day :)
You've done well - miniature food counts for certain. Pinchos sound like a perfect before-dinner-snack, much more sophisticated than having a string cheese (which is what we do around here). Such a fun topic.
"Thanks for the snack," she said dabbing the corners of her mouth with a napkin. Ciao for now.
That is a good interpretation of miniature worlds! Mine are more usual ;-)
OK if I leave L.A. right now, 9:33 a.m. would I get there in time for 6 o'clock pinchos and a beer? You are making me SO hungry? But what are (is it?) grindillas?
Wooo I love these... wish we had something so delicate in S. GA... I am again late on my post because of my slackerness and sinus problems! but I have good ideas.. you'll just have to be patient!!!
Hugs :)
yummm, these look and sound delish :))
love those! i'm hungry, again!
Delicious! I absolutely adore the a combo of anchovies and olives, so that is sounding awfully good right now!

My interpretation of this theme had to include my crochet-madness: amigurumi is my new middle name!

I need to make my love of sweets in pinchos. No will power! Your blog makes me feel like I'm on vacation. It is refreshing!
My favorite pincho is grilled mushroom (champignon) with oil and garlic topped with a shrimp. They make the best ones in "El Soriano" a little bar in Laurel Street in Logroño. ummmm. Rico, rico!
Mmmmm, is it lunch time yet? There is something about pinchos and tapas that taste so much better in Spain.
May we join your Corner View at www.wingandnest.com? - Emily & Linnea
