fashion...

at the bullring in Santander. Didn´t have time to take any pictures of the city, but hope to go back soon. (hint, hint Jorge!) Aren´t these outfits stunning? They start at 3,000 euros for the simplest design... And they get them filthy.... Must remember to ask what soap brand they use... I can´t even get a chocolate stain out... ;)

Thank you all for your kind comments! You made a little (OK, not so little) girl very happy. Big hugs my friends!

I always thought bullfighters' suits are so beautiful, it's specially funny when there's some banderillero barrigón dressed with one of them, even though they're fat, the suit fits perfectly.
I can see you like la fiesta nacional, you're always posting photos about it!
Big kisses, I'm glad about your pupil's happiness :)

(sorry about the first one, it was the same but I'd made some mistakes)

They use norit, dear, and a lot of time in very cold water.

But..Cayetano, no way!!! :DDD

Tomorrow I'm off to torear a la luna... just can't wait.

The detail is really something wonder how long it takes to make one?

They are very elegant, indeed, and I am sure the price of those outfits insures that they work even harder to subdue the bulls so as not to damage their garmets!

I've always been fascinated by the amount of details there's in a bullfighter uniform. So beautiful!

My male hair dresser told me he has a personal trainer so he can have a "butt like a bull fighter". I told him to, um, ahh, keep working on it.

Your photos just keep on getting better.

There is a 'Tauromaquia' exhibition of Picasso's bullfighting pictures at Salamanca's Museo de Art Deco y Art Nouveau, which is currently my favourite small museum in the world. You might find it interesting.

oh wow, so fancy and you must go back so we get the whole picture. we're counting on you ;). the detergent must be some version of tide for bullfighters - marea para toreros!

I like the rear view. The costume is designed to emphasize that too.

Oh wow! That's insane money! What is Santander like? I was supposed to get a ferry from there to Portsmouth (or is it Plymouth, I get the two confused) and never got as far as Santander!

I love the name of the suits: traje de luces (literally, "suits of lights" due to the reflection of the sequins and gold/silver threads on them). I find it very visual and poetic.

Beautiful pictures Jane. Cannot wait to see some of Santander - did you go to the Palacio de la Madalena?? Gorgeous!!

..I guess it's the best "distruction", instead of watching the poor animal get killed....Cayetanooooo!!

Their suits are beautifully made aren't they. So elaborate and bright. I wonder for how much longer in the rest of Spain the bullfights will continue?

Laura said...

Wow, they are beautiful suits. I've been reading about the controversy about banning/not banning bull fighting. Interesting! Thanks for the photos
