What was your first job?

After university I got a job working for the city on an AIDS prevention project. I gave out clean syringes and condoms to drug addicts and prostitutes ... And... I put my life into perspective... (On a side note, I took some amazing photos inside a crack house which the city ended up keeping, because, they claimed, they had bought the film...) Live and learn...

I worked in a hairdressing salon when I was 15. I brushed the floors, made coffee, washed people's hair, washed the towels, that sort of thing. They paid me 55p an hour!! In the school holidays I worked a 45 hour week (illegal for under 16s) and brought home about £25! Even in Ireland in 1995 that was slave labour, but I loved it.

I suppose summer camp counselor would have to be it. I was dying to work at the "Green Planet Juicery" in our little CA town, but my parents wouldn't let me work during the school year. So funny to think how common the juice shops already were in CA in the early 90's! =)

Wow, that's a weird but interesting job.
My first one (if you can really call that a job) was playing the clarinet in the music band at this year's Fallas (I only earnt 140€ after 5 or 6 days of nonstop playing but I had a great time)

From 16-19, I was a microwave and gas grill demonstrater at Sears. During the Christmas season and around Mothers Day, I would cook food in the microwave in the appliance department of the store and give out samples of the food I'd made. It was a great job! I got to choose what I cooked and everybody was very friendly. Around Fathers Day, I would stand outside the back door of the store and offer people samples of food cooked on a gas grill.
The rest of the year, appliance sales were not good enough to justify my demonstrations, so I worked in a credit booth, getting people to sign up for Sears credit cards. That was fun some days, because I could talk to my friends as they passed through the store, but many customers would avoid me.

Super interesting Jane!

Mine was at a hospital snackbar. I had to wear a red visor and apron every day. Everyone called me Deli Girl. Very glamorous I know.

My first job was taking care of a little textile museum in the weekends. Loved it, I could sit in the sun in front of the old villa most of the time. ;)
And I loved the history, in winter I went through all the stuff in the attic. One of the best jobs I ever had.

besides babysitting, which i did a lot of, i scooped ice cream and made espressos. that might have been the most physically demanding, delicious, most fattening job i've ever had!

Dishwasher. I was only 13 and way to small to carry big trays of glasses and plates. Luckily I was fast (and eventually I got pretty strong too) so I kept working there for 4 years...

Never again!!!
