the scenic route...

Jorge and I left the house with a map of northern Spain, a GPS, and written directions that a friend had emailed me. We still managed to get lost. So between veo veo (spanish kid´s game... hey- we can play too), Bruce Springsteen (I needed a little pick me up), a billion km of winding roads (it was only like a cm long on the map...), and me threatening to throw up in Jorge´s lap (his fault we got lost)... I shot some photos... We made it and we were only an hour late.... We are definitely getting better...

I get carsick, too. I must be the driver for the mountainous, narrow, winding ones. Too funny and very beautiful. Thank you for these, Jane!

It was a beautiful place to get lost in!
We take crystalized ginger along on car rides to help with car sickness. It really does help.

Every time you post photos of Spainish Country side it makes me want to spend a gazillion years exploring Spain. Those mountains are amazing. So jagges. You wonder what story they have to tell. We always get lost too because my husband is so stuborn too. He hates to ask for directions and is in total denial that we need a GPS system.

I love the yellows and oranges and yellowy-greens of the shots. And that cow -- is it real? He's so huge!

Wow gorgeous photos! I can get lost with a gps and map in hand too. No sense of direction at all here!

I Love the cow! Looks like it may need a blanket!

It looks like the cow is thinking, "Isn't this the third time that these crazy humans have passed by here?"

Gorgeous! I get incredible carsick - I can't look at a map or anything in a moving car.

Are all your photos film or do you also have a digital camera?

It's been too long that I haven't listened to Bruce Springsteen. I have to pull out a song of his and follow in your example and DANCE!!!
Looks like a beautiful road,
happy week to you, Jane!
PS there was a fun c.v. gathering in my dream last nite, you were there of course, and brought in some fun, thanks for the unexpected drop-in surprise:-)

I don't want to know that GPS is no help: it's the gadget that I covet, even though there's only the one road around here.

But those pictures did tell of a scenic route. Sorry to hear that you threatened to throw up (I don't travel well also). But I hope you guys had fun in the end!

ha ha. when we first moved to this part of the country, i took my kids to the zoo. it is 15 minutes from my house. took us 2 and a half hours to get there ! i drove an hour out of the way before i realized i was SO FREAKING LOST ! my kids were not happy ! ha ha. I wasn't either but I just laughed for about an hour ! I had no choice ... it was just me and them and at 4 and 2, neither of them was going to be able to drive if I broke down crying !!!

glad your scenic route is so pretty!

Those winding roads that leave one a little queasy after driving them remind me of home. I imagine that the leaves are turning the most brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow right now.

Country roads, take me home...

This sounds a lot like getting lost in Sicily, which is something that happens to me A LOT. All I can say is, at least it's scenic!

Sometimes blessings seem disguised, but there they are...right up front!
