kiss and tell friday

What is something you do that makes you a happier person?

I´ve stopped watching the news. I live in ignorant bliss. OK, I do occasionally listen to NPR (public radio) just to make sure California is still where it´s suppose to be...

P.S. That was a great CV. I love learning more about all the places I´m going to visit some day!...( I´m still making my way around the world...) Thank you!

¡Dos besos!

Just being myself.
Not always is easy. But when I feel I am what I like to be, that´s makes me so happy.
Have a great long weekend.

Exactly -- the news makes me sad and angry all the time. As if I am not already a sad and angry person?

Well, most of the time, a simple good cup of coffee or strong tea makes me a happier person. Just for the day.

to do something with my hands... to cook, to draw, to garden, to knit... all those things make me happy and just dreaming ; ) Bises

no news for me too!

making things, just like cabrizette just said, makes me happy.
or doing things that inspire me. looking-and-sight-seeing.
making photo's.

and praying.

and being outside, in the fields an feel the wind and rain and sun, and air. [so we're moving, from in-town-where-is-the-sky to a small farmers house with a piece of own land][just can't wait] :))

puttering - either in my creative space, or flipping through cookbooks, that sort of thing. puttering = happy times

Happier I get when I find a quiet moment and hear the birds' songs; I am happy when I feel strong (being where I want to be and doing what I wish to do) and healthy; so, I try to trace those moments, save energy, work out a bit, enrich and share the experience, work with my mind and with my hands, dream while I am awake.
This life, as I described it, gets so simple that scares me. :) (I hope you understand)
best wishes!

For me happiness is in small things.
A beautiful sky..a cup of coffee in the garden with my friend...crafting...blogging...happy kids in the house...spending a day with Mark.
It doesn´t take much to make me happy. :)
Have a wonderful weekend!

I love being with my two little ones first thing in the morning when we don't have to rush out the door. They are quiet and sleepy and they let me kiss and hug them. On another note, complete silence makes me happy. Especially in my office. it destresses me.

Taking my big black lab for daily morning walks makes me happy. We have one on one time, no baby, no husband. Just us and the fields near my house. Love that.

Have a great weekend!

I set up multiple bird feeders in my yard and I find watching the birds makes me feel peaceful. Also, working on art projects with my husband in the next room working on his projescts, and always the kitties beside us.

That's funny, I'm not a news watcher either. I just get too invested and sad. I get a lot of crap about it. Now, I'll just say "Jane does it too!"

I also make sure to try and cut myself some slack. I used to run around trying to be perfect and lately I have just been saying "Cait, you can't do it all, you just can't."

Definitely going outside for a hike, snowshoe, bike ride -- all on a trail, not on the road. And being ignorant. No news here, either! Have a beautiful, ignorant weekend, Jane!

i love your picture. what lens did you use?

I completely agree about the news, especially on commercial stations which give you the impression that the world is stuffed to the rafters with murderers, violent people and paedophiles. My current favourite thing is to sit under the maple trees and watch my children play xoxo

I too have stopped watching the news.

In fact, my husband is watching it right now in the other room as I catch up on blogs.

I turn to the internet for my news where I can control what I read.

I used to love the BBC World news I somehow feel like they're just bringing you the facts. US so called newschannels are really just a bunch of opinionated talking heads, they'll twist your mind if you let them.
I so love your blog, this is where I come to see what really matters in the world!

I'd like to say that I stopped watching the news too - but I never watched it to begin with.

I use a lot of home spa products. I never used to do anything like that - but I feel like I'm pampering myself. Something else I rarely did before.

I'm with you. I've stopped watching or listening to or reading the news. My Mom would come to me and ask me what do I think of this and that. And she would be so surprised that I do not know this and that.

Have a great weekend.

Going to yoga makes me a happier person and I do adore the movies -- especially by myself in the middle of the day, with popcorn and a Diet Coke.

time on my own. whether it is spent resting, thinking, starring into the air, or with creativity, reading or something active. i need alone time or i get insane. and turn into a nasty monster.

but i relate to the no-news thing. i tend to ignore them too, cause with the news here in the middle east you really don't know whether to laugh or cry. it's so sad, so insane, and honestly just too stupid that people cannot live and let live. in peace.

over the past year, i have weeded out the people in my life that are not real friends. for me, it wasn't easy at first. it has brought so much more joy to my everyday life that it's sort of astounding.

and throughout my life, baking, reading a juicy novel, and dancing around to ABBA (or something like it) has made me instantly happy.

p.s. no news for me either. last year i had a sitter who would come in taking about one horrible thing on the news after another. i weeded her out as well.

I listen to NPR every day unless I'm too buried in my work...for some reason NPR does not have the uglifying effect on me that other news media has. It soothes me.
But the one bottomless wellspring of happiness in my life is our daughter. Actually, I'd have to say our family of three. I never knew, lone wolf that I have ALWAYS been, that a little family unit could bring so much overwhelming joy.

I also live in ignorant bliss without the news. Got into the habit when living in Japan (and couldn't understand the broadcast).

A simple cup of tea and my 12 week old daughter brighten every day for me :)
