corner view "coffee companion"

One of my favorite things to have with my coffee is whole wheat biscuits. A little boring, and un photogenic, I´m afraid. So instead, I´ll share with you a typical spanish yogurt cake. I love this recipe. Who needs high tech utensils.... when one really only needs a yoghurt container...

1 whole fat natural yoghurt
3 yoghurt containers of flour
2 yoghurt containers of sugar
3 eggs
1/2 yoghurt container of corn oil
1 teaspoon of baking powder

Mix the wet ingredients together. Sift in the dry ingredients. Bake at 175C .

Next week´s theme comes from our resident chef, Cate, and it´s "miniature worlds". Can anyone who has an idea for the following week, please leave a comment. Thanks!

Happy Corner Viewing!

P.S. My friend Mike, over at Mike´s Photo World, has just started a two month photography trip across the US. Basically.... my dream.... he´s doing it..... If you´d like to follow along, and live vicariously through his lens, check out his blog. It´s going to be amazing!

mmm, that does look good. and simple. i like that :)

(but i don't believe that you, of all, cannot make a whole wheat biscuit look totally awesome and delicious on a photo. in fact, i know you can)

It's very clever, that all the measuring is done with the container. Thanks for the recipe!

Regardless of what you're photographing, your photos are never unphotogenic. You have such an eye to show us things in a more beautiful light.

I'm not a coffee drinker so I have to be a companion for hot chocolate instead.

Nice picture Jane. And the yoghurt cake sounds good. I love that it is all measured with the yoghurt container (regular single portion size?) - makes it so easy. I also love the US cup measurements and sticks of butter - so straight forward, no pfaffing with weighing everything.

Black coffee and youghurt biscuits... Hmmm I do prefer "café con leche"; but I will try the biscuits! Thanks for sharing the recipe!

oh, jane, i am pretty sure that a wheat biscuit would taste just right-with a little olive oil and honey on it!

one (maybe idiotic) question about the cake: are we talking a small container or a big one? i'm guessing small, but have to ask.

perhaps my mini-chefs will do a special "spain jane" cake next week in one of my classes. would we have permission?

Anonymous said...

Bon appétit ; )

Anonymous said...

how big is a yoghurt container?
your photo is wonderful. Will you put it in the pinestreet shop too?

Christy said...

Mmm sounds good! And how fun for your friend. I hope you get to live the dream one day too!!

aimee said...

it's true! coffee is so hard to photograph without a delicate leaf drifting through the cappuccino foam. i've tried so many times to take pictures of mine - because it looks so good in person - and on the other end of the shutter it looks like i've captured a mug of Pennzoil.

you on the other hand made your coffee look dynamite. i have no coffee to show today, but i'm drinking it - a grande verona with two shots of espresso - does that count?

lamediterrània said...

There's a yoghourt cake here in Valencia called 'coca de llanda', my grandmother is an expert:)
Please don't say that something is not photographic, every single thing you capture is.

Big kisses

gorgeous photo, as always... would try the recipe if my oven was working. oh well.

a theme could be "recent best read" (i need recommendations, so very selfish suggestion...)

Wheat biscuits are a LOT more appropriate than the hot dogs that I paired with my coffee in today's post. Sigh.

This is one of my fab cakes, and the children loves to make it. I use olive oil instead of the corn one, you have to try it!

I have quite a few ideas for miniature worlds, but I have posted most of them in the past. There is the fairy garden that I made in one corner of the garden, my son's table top garden, or some of the dolls I've made, along with their accessories . Since I have already used all those, I'll have to think of something new. Maybe insects.

jane - love this yum yum. ive taken a hiatus from corner view and blogging really (got busy and pregnant!) but would love to join again starting next week. it keeps me blogging.

Love the yogurt cake, it looks yummy. How about "Nature", "Happiness",
"My Neighborhood", "What Makes Me Strong", "My Family", "My Friends", "My Hobbies" or "Simple Joys" for CV themes? I just randomly got a bunch of ideas. :)

Cacahuete_sr said...

this looks so yummy! although i'm sure your other option would still be photogenic :) and thanks for the link to Mike's blog-I'll definitely check it out as there is so much of the US that I haven't seen!

Susie Lubell said...

maybe an ant hill? pretty tiny world in there. it's fun being closer to your time zone Jane... :)

Cherry B said...

I like "What makes me strong" as well as "Favorite quotes" or "Best childhood memories" for a future CV theme. I also think, "What makes you fearless" would be a nice one to have as we embark on Spring and many changes. Mike's blog sounds interesting and your recipe looks deeee-lish! Thanks for sharing :)
